Opening and advance
Hold below the forest belt at first. Move around the ends of a steel cap rather than trying to fire straight through a column from underneath.
Solo defence and local co-op
Watch the forest exits above both lower side lanes. In co-op, give each player an exit and keep the base-centre transfer space clear.
Common mistake
Confusing a gap in the brick with a gap in the steel above it leads to wasted shots while a tank emerges from the forest elsewhere.
Fixed enemy configuration

Type order in the first 35-stage cycle
4 × Fast → 8 × Armour → 4 × Basic → 4 × Power
The roster is fixed; movement, firing, spawn timing and the visible battle develop during play. The sequence is not a scripted route or a promised pickup location.
Sources and verification
Decoded from the stage-numbered Battle City (J) disassembly (listed ROM CRC32 F599A07E). Compared against two other data representations; source differences are retained in the verification record. Advice is editorial map analysis, not an original-ROM play-through. Tank 1990 correspondence has not been established.
